| Book Published Michael Hamada (CCS-6) and former LANL Statistical Sciences Group members Alyson Wilson (Iowa State University), C. Shane Reese (Brigham Young University), and Harry Martz (retired, LANL) have published a book, Bayesian Reliability, that presents modern methods and techniques for analyzing reliability data from a Bayesian perspective. The use of Bayesian methods has increased in recent years due to the availability of simulation-based computational tools for implementation. This book focuses on the assessment of reliability of components and systems, making use of Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithms for implementation. Dr. Hamada is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association, winner of the 2008 Wilcoxon Prize for the best practical application paper in Technometrics, and winner of numerous technology awards including the prestigious R&D 100 Award. |

Anderson-Cook is selected as a Fellow of the Americian Statistical Association (ASA)Christine Anderson-Cook has just been selected as a Fellow of the American Statistical Association (ASA). From the ASA By-Laws: "By the honorary title of Fellow the Association recognizes full members of established reputation who have made outstanding contributions in some aspect of statistical work." Given annually, this is a great honor as the number of recipients is limited to no more than 1/3 of one 1 percent of the ASA membership. Christine's citation reads: For research on the analysis of directional and cylindrical data from designed experiments and the graphical assessment of designed experiments, as an ambassador of statistics to various scientific and engineering fields, for a commitment to statistical education and the training of statistical researchers, and for exemplary service to the profession and to the ASA. ASA President, Sallie Keller-McNulty (left in photo) presents Christine with the Fellows Plaque. Congratulations to Christine! The Quality and Productivity Research Conference was held in Santa Fe in June 2007
